All data files and databases associated with EPI hosted services are backed up
nightly. Backups are intended for disaster recovery of EPI hosted services
only. Clients wishing EPI to perform special backups of hosted services
should contact their EPI Internet Direct sales representative.
As a general practice, EPI targets a 7 day backup cycle for all
information stored on our computers. Exceptions are as follows:
- For shared service Microsoft Exchange we perform message store
backups nightly, retaining a maximum five day cycle of daily backups.
- For shared service POP3 and IMAP services we perform system backups,
retaining a maximum five day cycle of daily backups.
- For Small Business Server deployments, we perform nightly full
system backups, retaining a maximum eight day cycle of daily backups.
- For Windows and Linux based web site hosting services we perform
nightly backups, retaining a maximum five day cycle of daily backups.
EPI maintains backups of FTP site contents only when this service is
included with a customers hosting plan.
Periodically EPI will receive a request from a client to restore some
information that is associated with a service EPI is hosting for a client.
As a general rule we can recover:
- Microsoft SQL Server Databases
- Individual data files or folders associated with hosted terminal
services.
- Individual web sites or web site folders
However individual mailboxes, individual emails, individual SharePoint
web sites, SharePoint web site documents or selected other service elements
may require a substantial amount of technical support assistance to recover
with no specific guarantee that such information is, in fact, recoverable.
Please note: For Microsoft Exchange
services only, individual deleted emails are retained within the Microsoft
Exchange server for up to 30 days from the date that you pressed "Delete"
or emptied your deleted items folder.
While it is possible for an individual mail box user for instruct the server
to immediately and permanently delete individual emails, EPI recommends that clients to not
do this. If you are trying to recover a deleted email from your
Microsoft Exchange mail box you can usually recover this without EPI's help
using Microsoft Outlook.

EPI's backup services to meet their specific needs. Some of these options
include:
- Increasing the length of time that EPI keeps your backups.
- Increasing he number of backups performed each day.
- Daily, weekly or monthly off-site transfer of custom backups.
- etc.
Please contact your EPI sales
representative for details.
